Manchester City striker Erling Haaland was forced to take part in a brutal training exercise ahead of pre-season.
Norway’s absence from Euro 2024 gave Haaland a full summer break to recharge after securing his second consecutive Premier League title and Golden Boot. He kicked off his break with parties in Marbella and made two subsequent yacht trips.
The former Borussia Dortmund star also visited Capri and Paris before returning to Norway. There, Haaland was spotted meditating shirtless by a river, appreciating the natural surroundings.
Despite the relaxation, the 23-year-old wasn’t entirely idle. Upon returning to training, he shared stories of chopping wood in the mountains, embracing his Viking nickname, as discussed by team staff.
In a video on City’s X account, Haaland attributed this physical exertion to his father’s insistence, admitting, “I spent the day chopping wood in the mountains, so now my hamstrings, back, shoulders, and arms are a bit sore. My father made me do it—I didn’t have a choice!”
Alf-Inge’s old-school approach channels serious Sylvester Stallone in Rocky IV vibes, encapsulating Haaland’s innate mentality and his exceptional physical capabilities.
He returned to training with City on Monday, joining the players who were not on international duty.
City have now traveled to the United States for a tour, and Haaland posted a photo of himself and Jack Grealish on the long-haul flight.
City’s first game is scheduled against Celtic at the Kenan Memorial Stadium in North Carolina on 24th July.
Three days later, they will be back in action at the famous Yankee Stadium, facing Serie A giants AC Milan.
Pep Guardiola’s reunion with Barcelona is scheduled for 31st July, followed by their final match against Chelsea on 3rd August, just a week before the Community Shield against Manchester United at Wembley.
