Manchester United fans already believe Leny Yoro will take them back to football’s elite after seeing his first 15 minutes against Rangers.
Yoro completed his move to United from Lille last Thursday, with the Manchester club paying an initial fee of £50 million plus potential future add-ons totaling £12 million.
He debuted in United’s pre-season friendly against Rangers, where fans quickly witnessed his impressive skills. Within just 15 minutes of play, Yoro delivered a precise cross-field pass to Sam Murray, who found ample space on the left flank. The 18-year-old then showcased his defensive prowess with a crucial tackle to deny Rangers’ Cyril Dessers a scoring opportunity against Andre Onana.
Yoro’s early performance in a United jersey drew positive reactions from the fans.
One fan commented, “I don’t want to exaggerate, but Leny Yoro could potentially be the best center-back in the world.”
Another fan remarked, “It’s early days and we need to see him against stronger opponents, but Leny Yoro looks very promising.”
A third fan made a comparison, stating, “Leny Yoro is like a Rolls-Royce of a defender… I haven’t seen that level of quality on the pitch for Manchester United since Rio Ferdinand.”
Lastly, a fourth fan expressed, “Leny Yoro has exceeded my expectations; he’s even better than I anticipated.”
Amad Diallo scored to give United the lead at 37 minutes, cutting in from the right and unleashing a superb shot into the corner of the net. Several first-team players, including Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Mason Mount, Jonny Evans, and Casemiro, started the match at Murrayfield, which is being played at a neutral venue.
However, the most significant highlight was Jadon Sancho’s presence. He started against the Scottish Premiership runners-up, marking his first appearance in a United shirt since August 2023.
