Xavi Hernandez, the former coach of Barcelona’s first team, delivered a significant message to the new coach, Hansi Flick, ahead of the upcoming season.
Barcelona announced that Flick would be taking over the role after Xavi was dismissed. Xavi’s departure followed remarks that angered Joan Laporta, the club’s chairman. In his statement, Xavi indicated that issues within the club are unlikely to change and that Flick should be prepared to handle a challenging financial situation.
Xavi suggested that for Hansi Flick to be successful at Barcelona, he should first sell some players and bring in new stars. Among those Xavi recommended offloading was Polish forward Robert Lewandowski, who he feels impedes Barcelona’s high pressing game and lacks vitality due to age.
Xavi also advised against renewing the loan for Portuguese player Joao Felix, citing his inconsistent performance. Additionally, Xavi noted that Vitor Roque lacks the qualities needed for Barcelona and should be sold in the summer.
He also mentioned Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo as a liability due to his potential departure, which he believes could weaken the team’s defense.
