Man Utd fans are all making the same point after shock club targets move for Antony

United fans are all saying the same thing as reports of a potential exit from the club for Brazilian, Antony, have emerged.

In the summer of 2022, Manchester United signed Brazilian winger Antony from Ajax for a reported fee of £82 million. Given his impressive performances with Erik ten Hag before, Antony was expected to excel under the Dutch manager and scored on his debut against Arsenal.

Despite his promising start, the 24-year-old has struggled to demonstrate his value, having scored just 11 goals in 82 appearances across all competitions for Manchester United up to this point.

Antony’s performances increased the pressure on Ten Hag, as all of the Dutch manager’s signings were underperforming and appeared to be his choices. Gary Neville highlighted this concern last season, stating: “If he [Ten Hag] thinks Antony is an £85m player, that for me is such a worry. That is terrifying.”

“What seems to have happened is that Manchester United’s recruitment department likely didn’t evaluate Antony and approve the £85 million fee,” Neville said. “It appears they allowed Ten Hag to override their decision, which is concerning because strong leadership is needed at the top.”

However, Antony might find relief from the scrutiny at Old Trafford, as it has been reported that Turkish club Beşiktaş has shown interest in signing the Brazilian.

According to a report by Ertan Süzgün, Manchester United is considering selling Antony this summer, but the winger is hesitant to leave the club.

In response to the news, Manchester United fans have expressed their strong opinions on social media regarding the potential move.

One fan wrote: “We’re all on our knees. Beşiktaş, make this happen and we will be eternally grateful.”

Another added: “We should accept the first offer they made before they reconsider.”

A third posted: “I am on my knees. Let him go. Please, let Antony go.”
