Ancelotti In Search Kroos Replacement.

Real Madrid are reportedly looking at Manchester City’s Rodri as a potential successor for the retiring Toni Kroos. The 34-year-old Kroos will retire after the European Championship next month.

Kroos, recognized as one of the top midfielders of his era, will end his career after Euro 2024 in Germany. He has just two more club matches remaining, with the last being the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on June 1 at Wembley. Replacing Kroos will be a tough task for Los Blancos, but Rodri is considered a strong candidate. The Spaniard has been a key figure for City since his arrival four years ago.

Tribal Football reports that the La Liga champions are interested in signing the 27-year-old Rodri. However, any move would be complex, as Rodri is under contract with Manchester City until 2027. Another potential target for Real Madrid is Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich, according to the same report. Rodri, valued at €110 million by Transfermarkt, has netted 26 goals and provided 30 assists in 256 appearances for City. He has won 11 titles with the club, including a continental treble last season and four successive Premier League titles.

Both Real Madrid and Manchester City have enjoyed outstanding seasons. Real Madrid captured the Supercopa Espana and La Liga titles, while City secured the UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and Premier League.

Both teams still have chances to add to their trophy haul before the season wraps up. Real Madrid will end their La Liga campaign at home against Real Betis on Saturday (May 25) and then play Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final the following week. On the other hand, Manchester City, fresh off their historic four consecutive Premier League titles, will conclude their season with the FA Cup final against Manchester United on Saturday at Wembley, where City won 2-1 in last year’s final.
