According to reports, Liverpool turned down a deal for one of their players.
It has been quiet for the Anfield club thus far during the summer transfer market, which is now open. After their contracts expired, players like Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, and Adrian left Liverpool, and the Reds have not added any new players.
Liverpool will be under pressure to provide Arne Slot with the strongest team possible as the 24/25 season draws near so that the team can contend for the top spot in the Premier League.
Reports surfaced on Monday afternoon stating that Liverpool had turned down a deal for defender Sepp van den Berg from PSV Eindhoven, a Dutch team. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano posted on social media, saying, “It is understood that PSV Eindhoven made a formal bid of approximately €10 million for Sepp van den Berg to Liverpool at the end of last week.” Liverpool turned down the proposition right away.
Liverpool is reportedly holding out for a €20 million transfer fee before letting go of the 22-year-old. Van den Berg claimed in June that the club was impeding his future.
“I had a good conversation with the management,” he stated. He reported that he had heard positive things. I realized that I couldn’t play Konate, Matip, or Van Dijk off the field. However, I believed that I could catch up to it.
When I was denied another opportunity, I declared, “I want to figure it out.” Liverpool didn’t seem to believe in me the entire time, but it appears that you wish to stand in the way of my success.
“I want to keep playing every week and develop myself further,” Van den Berg continued. I like seeing Dortmund away to 70,000 fans and Bayern Munich away to Harry Kane when I’m in Germany. I have challenges every week from teams like Stuttgart, Leipzig, and Leverkusen.
Van den Berg began last week’s 1-0 victory over Real Betis at the center of Slot’s defense. After the game, he had this to say: “I’m still a Liverpool player; I really enjoy it here.” Under a new coach, the team is in a new era, and I truly enjoy the way they play.
It’s all about gaming time to me, and I’m getting it right now. Playing is the most essential thing to me. Being here is my dream; if I can succeed here, there isn’t a finer place.”
