Jose Mourinho could block former club Man Utd from signing summer target with Fenerbahce ‘making rival offer’

Jose Mourinho is set to rival Manchester United for his next Fenerbahce signing.

The previous Chelsea manager has quickly moved to reinforce his team since taking charge in June.

Cenk Tosun joined on a free transfer from Besiktas, and Allan Saint-Maximin arrived on a season-long loan from Al-Ahli.

Their priciest acquisition of the transfer window was Youssef En-Nesyri, who was brought in for around £17 million. However, Mourinho isn’t finished and might compete with Erik ten Hag for his next signing.

United are still seeking a midfielder and have reached personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte, though the clubs have not yet settled on a transfer fee for the Uruguayan.

Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, who was on loan at Old Trafford last season, also remains on their list of targets.

Corriere dello Sport reports that Mourinho is keen on signing the Moroccan midfielder and that Fenerbahce is optimistic about securing his transfer.

Amrabat has one year left on his contract, and United opted not to trigger the clause to make his loan permanent, preferring to negotiate a different arrangement. He appeared in 29 matches across all competitions last season.

After winning the FA Cup against Manchester City, Amrabat admitted he was uncertain about his future.

“Do I already know what I’m going to do next year? No,” he told Ziggo Sports.

“We will discuss it. Staying is definitely an option. It’s been a challenging season, and both Manchester United and I need to improve. Manchester United is the biggest club in the world, so of course, who wouldn’t want to play here? However, all parties need to be satisfied, so we’ll sit down and see what happens.”
