Florian Wirtz says there is no ‘timetable’ regarding his future at Bayer Leverkusen.
The 21-year-old has been a standout performer for Die Werkself, scoring 18 goals and providing 20 assists across all competitions last season. His contributions were key in securing an unbeaten Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double, as well as reaching the Europa League final.
Wirtz, who scored twice in five games for Germany at Euro 2024 this summer, has caught the eye of some of Europe’s top clubs, including Liverpool and Real Madrid. However, Bayer Leverkusen has firmly stated that Wirtz will remain with the team, at least in the short term.
In April, CEO Fernando Carro assured, “He will definitely stay here 100% this year.”
Wirtz has now addressed his future, emphasizing that he is solely concentrating on the upcoming title defense with Bayer Leverkusen.
When asked about his future, Wirtz told Kicker (via Bulinews), “I don’t have a timetable or any plans in mind regarding that. I’m just really happy to be back on the pitch after the summer break. My focus is on achieving my goals with the team right now. What happens later will be seen, but I’m not concerned with a timetable.”
