Man City, Arsenal-linked Dani Olmo has made his transfer decision

Dani Olmo is ‘pushing’ for a transfer to FC Barcelona this summer, according to Matteo Moretto.

Olmo’s stock has surged significantly over the summer following his impressive performance at Euro 2024, where he scored three goals and provided two assists, contributing to Spain’s victory. He shared the Top Scorer Award with five other players, including Harry Kane, Cody Gakpo, and Jamal Musiala.

Olmo wasn’t an unknown player before, given his record of 29 goals and 34 assists in 148 appearances for RB Leipzig since his move from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020.

Recently, he’s been linked with several top Premier League clubs, such as Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea.

However, Barcelona seems to be leading the race for his signature. It appears that the Blaugrana are nearing a deal, with Olmo reportedly keen on returning to the club where he spent seven years as a youth player. He is said to ‘only want to go to Barcelona.’

Olmo ‘only wants to go to Barcelona’

According to Moretto in Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing, Barcelona and Dani Olmo have already reached a verbal agreement, with Olmo insisting on joining Barcelona and pressuring RB Leipzig to finalize the transfer. Barcelona is close to meeting the €60 million asking price, with their most recent offer being €55 million plus €4 million in easily achievable add-ons and €3 million in more challenging performance-based incentives.

Discussions are ongoing regarding the bonuses and payment terms, and Barcelona may need to increase their offer slightly. The clubs are negotiating, with Leipzig aiming to maximize their return on a key player.

“The negotiations are progressing positively, and the final agreement will likely hinge on the balance between fixed fee and bonuses,” Moretto noted. “Olmo is pushing for the move, Barcelona is confident about completing the deal, and Leipzig, aware of Olmo’s desire to leave, is open to negotiations. Currently, there is optimism about reaching an agreement.”
