Liverpool boss Arne Slot is yet to make a summer signing following his arrival but that could all change in the coming days.
Liverpool hired former Feyenoord manager Slot after Jurgen Klopp departed at the end of last season.
Given the aging core in Liverpool’s first-team squad, many believe it is an opportune moment to rejuvenate the team.
According to a Liverpool-based journalist, the Reds’ summer transfer activity could soon gain momentum.
Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon has been frequently linked with a move to Liverpool this summer. Liverpool Echo journalist Ian Doyle recently expressed confidence that the former Everton player will likely join Slot’s squad in the near future.
Doyle remarked, “We are quite certain he will eventually end up at Liverpool. While I previously suggested it might not happen this summer, it could be a possibility next summer.”
Doyle continued, “Now I believe it might actually happen this summer. However, there are indications that Newcastle might offer him a new contract.”

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has yet to make a summer signing since his appointment following Jurgen Klopp’s departure. However, that could soon change.
With an aging core in Liverpool’s first-team squad, there is a strong feeling that it’s time to refresh the team.
According to a respected Liverpool-based journalist, the Reds’ transfer activity might soon pick up. Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon has been frequently linked with a move to Liverpool this summer.
Liverpool Echo journalist Ian Doyle recently stated that he is confident Gordon will join Slot’s squad in the near future. Doyle remarked, “We definitely think he will end up at Liverpool eventually. I initially thought it might be next summer, but now I believe it could happen this summer. There are reports that Newcastle might offer him a new contract, but Liverpool once offered a new contract to Luis Suarez, who then left anyway. I would personally bet on Gordon being here by the end of the month.”
Gordon, who moved from Everton to Newcastle in January 2023, is contracted at St James’ Park until 2026. Early reports suggested Newcastle would not entertain offers for the England international, who was expected to remain a key player for Eddie Howe’s squad.
After making only occasional appearances for the Three Lions at Euro 2024, Howe fully anticipates the 23-year-old will play a significant role for his team this season.
Howe said, “I’d welcome Anthony back with three arms if I had them. He’s a crucial part of what we’re doing. We haven’t had any contentious or negative discussions over the summer.”
“He’s always been the Anthony Gordon who has given his all for Newcastle, and I want to make that clear to all our supporters,” Howe stated.
