Napoli star Victor Osimhen has been linked with another Premier League club after Chelsea reportedly dropped their interest.
In recent seasons, Osimhen has frequently been associated with a transfer to the Premier League, with teams such as Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Manchester City showing interest. Despite these links, Osimhen has not yet moved, but with the summer transfer window heating up, the 25-year-old might be on the verge of a departure.
New manager Antonio Conte omitted the forward from his pre-season squad, suggesting that Osimhen’s tenure at Napoli may be coming to an end.
According to Italian news source Di Marzio, Chelsea have reduced their interest in acquiring the striker, while Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain have now joined the competition. There are also reports that Saudi Arabian clubs are eager to sign Osimhen but will face significant challenges in attracting one of Europe’s top players to the Middle East.
The report adds that Osimhen, who reportedly has a £110 million release clause, will wait to see if he is chosen for Napoli’s Serie A opener against Modena on August 10. Last month, Conte commented, “We are talking about Victor as a professional, an excellent, top player.”
“I spoke with him, and he understands that nothing has changed. He is still a Napoli player, and he knows that anyone at Napoli must work hard and maintain the right attitude, even though there is this agreement whose outcome is still uncertain.”
The Italian added, “He’s here with a smile, and what matters right now is this afternoon’s training and his attitude with me and my colleagues.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea have turned their focus to Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on social media that Chelsea have agreed on a seven-year contract with Omorodion, extending until June 2031.
“Personal terms agreed and Atlético to receive £35m fee, as revealed yesterday. Green light only when Atlético will complete all final steps for Julián Álvarez.”
