Endrick has made some surprising picks for his favourite players of all time, including two of his Real Madrid teammates in his top five.
Endrick, 18, is adjusting to his new life in Spain following his formal introduction to Real Madrid fans at a major event at the Bernabeu last month. Real Madrid secured his transfer from Brazilian club Palmeiras in 2022 for a deal that could total up to €60 million (£50 million) with additional bonuses.
However, he couldn’t join the reigning European and Spanish champions right away because he was only 16 when the agreement was made.
Instead, he stayed in Brazil with Palmeiras to continue his development, playing his last match for the club last season. He has now officially joined Madrid for the 2024/25 campaign but will face a challenging task of making his way into Carlo Ancelotti’s star-studded squad, which has recently been strengthened by the acquisition of Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer from PSG.
Endrick recently shared his top five favorite footballers of all time, and his choices included two of his Real Madrid teammates. The 18-year-old, who is adjusting to life in Spain after being officially introduced to Real Madrid last month, surprised many with his selections.
Real Madrid had secured Endrick’s transfer from Brazilian club Palmeiras in 2022 for up to €60 million (£50 million) including add-ons. However, he couldn’t join immediately due to being only 16 at the time. Instead, he continued his development with Palmeiras and played his last match for them last season. Now, ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, Endrick has officially joined Madrid and faces the challenge of breaking into Carlo Ancelotti’s star-studded squad, recently strengthened by Kylian Mbappe’s free transfer from PSG.
Endrick may debut for Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta. When asked about his favorite footballers, he named Cristiano Ronaldo, Bobby Charlton, Ferenc Puskas, Vinicius Jr, and Jude Bellingham.
It might be surprising that the young player did not include several Brazilian legends in his list, omitting icons such as Pelé, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, and Neymar.
He has previously expressed his admiration for Ronaldo and discussed the impact the Portuguese superstar has had on his young career. In an interview with the Daily Mail, Endrick said, “My dream since I was little has always been to play for Real Madrid.”
“Cristiano Ronaldo is one of my biggest idols,” Endrick said. “So it is a great honor to know that I will wear the same shirt he once wore.”
After facing last season’s Europa League winners Atalanta next week, Real Madrid kick off their La Liga title defence with a trip to Mallorca on August 18.
