Here we go’ – Romano provides first major transfer update for Liverpool fans as deal confirmed

Fabrizio Romano is closely associated with transfer windows, but this summer he’s had little to do with Liverpool—until recently.

On X, the Italian journalist shared: “Fábio Carvalho is moving to Brentford, confirmed! Liverpool is selling Carvalho permanently. The deal is expected to be £20 million plus add-ons.”

It’s quite surprising that we’ve let the 21-year-old leave, especially after his promising performances during the summer and the opportunities he had.

Despite his time at Anfield being largely unremarkable, it’s worth acknowledging the young player’s persistent drive to play regularly rather than remain on the bench.

With Arne Slot using the former Fulham player on the left wing during our friendly matches, it was clear that competition for playing time would be intense once the season started.

The acceptance of just £20 million is surprisingly low, but considering he was acquired for only £5 million from London, it turns out to be a good deal overall.

We can only wish the Portuguese under-21 international the best for the future and hope his next move proves more successful than his time with RB Leipzig at the start of the previous season.

Fulham will receive a percentage of the incoming fee, but overall, this deal represents solid business on our part as well.
