Transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano reported that Brentford and Liverpool have agreed on a deal for Brentford to acquire Fabio Carvalho. This move comes during a notably quiet summer for Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot, who has yet to sign any players despite ongoing efforts to bring in Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
Carvalho, a promising young midfielder who made a notable impression during Liverpool’s preseason tour in America, is set to start anew with Brentford. Slot will be without Carvalho, a player who had shown good form, as he prepares for the upcoming season.
Carvalho, who was signed by Liverpool from Fulham for £5 million in 2022, spent the previous season on loan at RB Leipzig and Hull City. While at Hull, the 21-year-old scored nine goals and played a key role in the team’s strong performance, although they narrowly missed the playoffs. Carvalho is now ready for a new challenge in London.
Several clubs showed interest in the midfielder, including Leicester City and newly promoted Southampton, whose bid was rejected. However, according to Romano, Brentford has succeeded in securing his signature.
Romano shared the update on X.com, stating, “Fabio Carvalho is heading to Brentford! Liverpool will sell Carvalho on a permanent deal, with the transfer fee believed to be £20 million plus additional add-ons. Carvalho has agreed to the terms and will soon travel to Brentford for medical examinations.”
