Man Utd star to extend his contract as Fabrizio Romano shares major update

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Bruno Fernandes over a new deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Fernandes’ new contract will extend through June 2027, with the possibility of an additional season. According to Romano, the 29-year-old is expected to be one of the top earners at the club.

In April 2020, he signed a new contract worth approximately £220,000 per week, which is set to last until 2026.

His new contract will place him in the highest pay tier alongside Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, and Jadon Sancho. Rashford earns a base salary of around £365,000 per week, slightly more than Casemiro, while Sancho makes approximately £300,000 per week.

His new contract will elevate him to the highest salary bracket alongside Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, and Jadon Sancho. Rashford’s base salary is approximately £365,000 per week, slightly exceeding Casemiro’s, while Sancho earns around £300,000 per week.

A new contract is set to be signed before the end of the summer transfer window.

Fernandes has been at Man United since January 2020 when he joined from Sporting CP for a reported fee of £67.6 million.

He has since made an impressive 234 appearances across all competitions for the club, becoming an integral part of the team.

Fernandes had been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with reports claiming he was set to speak to Saudi Arabia officials over a switch to the Middle East.

A move to Bayern Munich or Inter Milan had been suggested due to uncertainty about the star player’s future. However, Romano’s major update confirms the Portuguese player’s dedication to Manchester United, indicating he will spend the prime years of his career in the Premier League.

A few months ago, Fernandes voiced his wish to remain at Manchester United, emphasizing that the club needed to align with his ambitions.

“I don’t want to leave. This has always been my ultimate dream. I just want my goals to align with the club’s goals,” he said. “If you speak to any fan, they’ll tell you the same: we want to compete for the league, play in the Champions League, and reach cup finals. That’s the standard we aim for.”
