Jules Kounde, the French defender for Barcelona, has expressed his hope that one of the standout players from Spain’s Euro 2024-winning team will join Barcelona during the current summer transfer window. The club is aiming to bolster its squad with significant signings to restore its former glory after a challenging season. While at Barcelona’s training camp in the United States, Kounde commented, “Nico Williams is an excellent player, and I would definitely like him to become my teammate.”
He further stated in comments reported by the Spanish network “Relevo”: “Let’s see what the club does; if it happens, we’d be very happy.”
Barcelona has shown interest in signing Williams to add a talented winger to their squad, particularly after his standout performances in Euro 2024 and his role in Spain’s championship victory. The club has made an official offer to Williams and is now waiting for his decision to activate the release clause in his contract, which is set at 58 million euros.
It is noteworthy that Barcelona President Joan Laporta has taken over the negotiations with the player personally and removed Deco from the deal in an effort to expedite finalizing the contract as quickly as possible.
