Arsenal fans go into meltdown after top European star spotted wearing new home kit in viral video

Arsenal fans have been reacting on social media after seeing a rival player wearing the club’s new home kit.

After finishing as runners-up to Manchester City in the Premier League for two consecutive seasons, the Gunners are hoping for better luck this time.

With Mikel Arteta’s team having added Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori to their roster this summer, they are well-positioned to challenge City for the top spot once again.

On Thursday, a video of Bayer Leverkusen player Jeremie Frimpong appeared on social media. The Dutch footballer was shown wearing Arsenal’s new home kit while sitting in his car.

On social media, one fan commented: “Hear me out… he could play right wing (cover for Saka) and can fill multiple roles like right wing-back and right back.”

Another suggested: “Maybe he swapped shirts with someone when Arsenal played Leverkusen in the Emirates Cup.”

A third fan reacted: “Tell him to take that shirt off NOW. He was mocking us a few months ago, and now he’s acting like he supports us. Arsenal fans are so easily pleased.”

Someone else posted: “An Arsenal fan in disguise.”

A fifth fan commented: “Smart move. We’ll definitely pursue him next season.”

In a video from Leverkusen’s Bundesliga celebrations in April, Frimpong, with his arms around former Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka, was heard saying: “Granit, you came from Arsenal and you won it here! My f*****g G!”

It’s clear that some Arsenal fans haven’t forgotten that remark, even though the full-back is now seen wearing the club’s new kit.

Arsenal will kick off their Premier League title pursuit this weekend by hosting Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

At the same time, defending champions Manchester City will begin their title defense with an away match at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.
