Hansi Flick is urging Barcelona to finalize the acquisition of Neco Williams. He wants them to stay focused on the Athletic Bilbao star, and now that Dani Olmo’s transfer is complete, their priority is the 22-year-old winger. Flick is particularly keen on Williams because he lacks a player to round out the attacking trio on the left wing.
Despite having several options, Neco Williams is currently the most pressing and appealing choice. The terms of his contract have been agreed upon, and it is anticipated that the remaining details will be resolved shortly.
However, the crucial aspect still remains: the payment of the €58 million release clause. To secure this, financial resources are required, and Hansi Flick is hopeful that Joan Laporta and Deco will generate the necessary funds by selling players like Rafinha Diaz.
They have already transferred Julian Araujo to Bournemouth and will also receive a significant amount from Jean-Clair Todibo’s move to West Ham United, as they retain 20% of any future sale. However, this isn’t sufficient, leading to the consideration of the Brazilian international. Although he was a key player for Xavi Hernandez, Hansi Flick’s arrival means there is no longer a role for him at Camp Nou.
According to the Spanish newspaper El Nacional, Flick wants him to depart as soon as possible, as he would be the main casualty of Williams’ signing. Flick has requested Joan Laporta to find a buyer for the 27-year-old, hoping to secure a substantial transfer fee.
The newspaper also noted that another player on the verge of leaving Barcelona is Vitor Roque. Roque, who was a personal choice of Deco, has been disappointing and has not demonstrated his potential.
He didn’t provide any reasons for optimism, and Barcelona’s investment in him turned out to be a failure, as the player had worn out everyone’s patience and needed to be let go after a disappointing pre-season. Once Barcelona finalizes the major deals for Rafinha and Vitor Roque, which are expected to bring in over 80 million euros, Laporta and Deco could promptly sign Nico.
