Before the new Spanish League season begins, Barcelona’s first team coach Hans Flick was pleasantly surprised. Barcelona will kick off their La Liga campaign with a highly anticipated match against Valencia at Mestalla Stadium on Saturday evening.

According to the Catalan newspaper “Sport,” Barcelona midfielder Pedri is expected to return to action soon as he nears full fitness. This news has delighted Flick, especially given the current shortage of midfielders due to injuries.

The newspaper also mentioned that Pedri participated in group training on Thursday and is available for the match against Valencia. However, the final decision on whether he will be used as a substitute or reserved for future games rests with the German coach.

It is likely that Pedri’s return might be delayed until the match against Athletic Bilbao in the second round to ensure he is fully fit. Additionally, the Spanish newspaper “AS” reported that Pedri has made a rapid recovery from his injury and will be included in Barcelona’s squad for the Valencia game.

Pedri sustained the injury during Spain’s quarter-final match against Germany in Euro 2024, following a strong tackle from former Real Madrid player Toni Kroos.
