Manchester United fans have praised one surprise player after winning their season opener against Fulham.
The 2024/25 Premier League season began positively for United when a late goal from new recruit Joshua Zirkzee clinched a 1-0 victory over Fulham at Old Trafford on Friday.
Although Fulham initially dominated the match, United created several significant opportunities to score but couldn’t convert until the 87th minute.
While Zirkzee’s debut goal will be the primary highlight, another unexpected player also caught the attention of fans on social media.
Casemiro delivered one of his finest performances in a Manchester United jersey during the Premier League opener, playing a key role in the goal by assisting Alejandro Garnacho, who then set up Zirkzee.
One fan commented, “Casemiro has been nothing short of world-class tonight.”
Another agreed, stating, “Best player on the pitch. Well done, Casemiro 👏🏽”
Yet another praised the 32-year-old for his speed and responsiveness despite his age, noting, “Casemiro looks like a different player from the end of last season. Faster, more alert, and remarkably solid for his age 👏🏽”
The Brazilian midfielder also posed an attacking threat, taking three shots and creating three additional chances, including the decisive goal.
