Arne Slot seems to have subtly addressed Richard Hughes and the club’s leadership following Liverpoolâs 2-0 victory over Ipswich on Saturday.
Even though Liverpool hasnât made any senior signings this summer, they had enough resources to secure the win at Portman Road, showing significant improvement in the second half.
After the match, Slot spoke to TNT Sports, emphasizing the quality of his current squad while suggesting that the club would be open to adding new players if a suitable option arises.
Slot remarked, âThereâs been a lot of talk about our signings, but I saw three or four players come off the bench who are capable of playing. We have many good players, but as Iâve said, if we find another good one, we wonât hesitate to bring them in. We already have plenty of quality.â
That comment towards the end might have been a subtle message to Hughes, indicating that while the current squad is impressive, Liverpool could still benefit from additional players to seriously contend for major trophies this season.
Currently, we are fortunate to have a fully fit squad, but it’s unlikely that this will continue once domestic cups and European competitions start in the autumn.
