Barcelona, led by Joan Laporta, is working to enhance the team during the summer transfer window, particularly after failing to secure a deal for Nico Williams. According to Luis Miguel Sanz, a journalist for Sport, Barcelona is now considering Federico Chiesa, the Juventus star, as a potential signing.
Juventus is open to Chiesa’s departure this summer, following coach Thiago Motta’s decision not to use him regularly. Sanz reported that Chiesa has been proposed to Barcelona and could be a viable option, especially if Barcelona’s top targets are not secured before the window closes.
Sanz also mentioned that if Barcelona fails to achieve their main transfer objectives, they might quickly move to sign Chiesa if he remains available. However, Hans Flick is opposed to the move, believing Chiesa will not offer the desired impact and his frequent injuries could result in missing crucial matches.
Barcelona initially considered other players like Kingsley Coman from Bayern Munich and Luis Diaz from Liverpool, in addition to Williams, but the high financial demands of these options do not align with the club’s budgetary constraints, as reported by Sport.
