Liverpool set for EIGHT-player exodus ahead of transfer deadline as Arne Slot gets ruthless

Liverpool are reportedly set for a eight-player exodus under Arne Slot as the summer transfer window draws to a close.

Liverpool could see up to eight players depart as the transfer deadline approaches under Arne Slot’s management. The club has yet to secure a permanent signing, which would mean a full year without new additions if no deal is finalized soon. Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool is nearing a €30 million agreement for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, though he would remain on loan at Valencia for the 2024/25 season.

In terms of departures, Liverpool has been working to offload squad players, with Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, and Adrian already released. Sepp van den Berg is reportedly close to a permanent transfer valued around £20 million, with Brentford showing interest. Additionally, Liverpool has agreed to sell Bobby Clark to RB Salzburg for £10.5 million, retaining an 18.5 percent sell-on clause.

Further departures are anticipated, with up to six more players potentially leaving before September 1. Liverpool is open to offers for defender Nat Phillips, despite rejecting a £4 million bid from Trabzonspor earlier in the summer.

Winger Ben Doak, who was expected to play a significant role in Liverpool’s Europa League squad last season and was named to Scotland’s Euro 2024 squad, might leave the club. His campaign and Euro 2024 prospects were derailed by a serious knee injury.

Midfielder Tyler Morton could also be sold following a successful loan with Hull City in the Championship last season.

Additionally, Kaide Gordon, Owen Beck, and Stefan Bajcetic are all potential candidates for loan moves. Bajcetic, who showed promise under Jürgen Klopp but missed most of the 2023/24 season due to severe adductor injuries, was not included in Arne Slot’s first competitive matchday squad. A loan move might help the 19-year-old regain fitness and address Liverpool’s defensive midfield needs.
