Man City star posts cryptic message on social media amid rumours of summer transfer exit

A Manchester City star has posted a cryptic message on social media amid rumours he could leave the club this summer.

Manchester City aims to secure their fifth consecutive Premier League title, but their summer activity has been relatively low-key.

They signed Brazilian winger Savinho from Troyes, a City Football Group team, for £30.8 million. In contrast, Julian Alvarez transferred to Atletico Madrid for £64.4 million.

Pep Guardiola may soon reunite with Ilkay Gundogan, who left City a year ago but is now being released by Barcelona for free.

Despite earlier speculation about potential departures of Kevin De Bruyne, Ederson, and Kyle Walker, all three are expected to remain at the Etihad Stadium this season.

However, Joao Cancelo, the Portuguese full-back who was a key player for City, seems to be out of favor. After a dispute with Guardiola in January 2023, Cancelo was loaned to Bayern Munich for the rest of the season. Bayern chose not to make the loan permanent or extend it, and Cancelo is now on loan to Barcelona for the 2023-24 season.

Since Barcelona chose not to pursue João Cancelo, the 30-year-old returned to Manchester City for pre-season training this summer. Last week, Guardiola acknowledged that while Cancelo is participating in training, he wasn’t part of the squad for City’s 2-0 victory over Chelsea on Sunday. Guardiola mentioned that Cancelo’s future with the club is still uncertain, stating, “We will see. Maybe he will stay, maybe he will go on loan. I don’t know yet.”

On Tuesday, Cancelo posted a cryptic message on Instagram amid speculation about a potential move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal. He shared a vacation photo with the caption: “I’m the only one that knows who I am. #mommyblessme.”

If Cancelo remains in Manchester, he will have to compete for playing time with Kyle Walker and Rico Lewis on the right and Josko Gvardioland Nathan Ake on the left.
