At a press conference, Guardiola remarked, “He’s not here to retire or relive old memories. It’s time to get his boots on and perform at his best. He’s already accustomed to the situation, the team, the city, and our playing style, so this move is practical as he’s well-integrated.”
Gundogan adds more depth to an already strong, though aging, midfield that helped City win three consecutive Premier League titles from 2021 to 2023. He is City’s second summer signing, following winger Savinho’s move from Troyes.
