Fabrizio Romano shuts down possibility of Arsenal signing 25-year-old striker

Arsenal have experienced a relatively quiet summer transfer window.

After acquiring Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad and Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna, Arsenal have made only two new additions to their first team. Despite the transfer window closing at 11 p.m. (UK time) on Friday, Arsenal has been rumored to be considering a last-minute, high-profile move for Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.

Arsenal’s limited striking options have led Mikel Arteta to rely on Kai Havertz to cover for the injured Gabriel Jesus. According to Fichajes, this situation has spurred interest in Nunez.

The Uruguayan forward has not started in Liverpool’s first two Premier League matches, with new manager Arne Slot favoring a front three of Luis Diaz, Mo Salah, and Diogo Jota.

What has Fabrizio Romano reported about Arsenal’s pursuit of Darwin Nunez?

Despite the 25-year-old’s limited playing time and the speculation linking him to Arsenal, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano asserts that Darwin Nunez has no intention of leaving Liverpool this summer. Romano guarantees that Nunez will not be sold anytime soon. In a statement to Playback, quoted by TeamTalk, he expressed confusion over reports suggesting that Nunez is pushing to leave Liverpool, saying, “I saw some reports people sent me. Again, I have no idea where this is coming from, about Darwin pushing to leave Liverpool.”

“For Liverpool supporters, whether they are fans of Darwin or not, it’s important to clarify that Darwin has no intention of leaving Liverpool, at least not this summer. I can assure you that Darwin is very committed to Liverpool.”
