Premier League club ‘in talks’ over shock move for Raheem Sterling on deadline day

Raheem Sterling could be set for a sensational transfer deadline day move, reports claim.

Raheem Sterling, who is not needed at Chelsea, has been linked with Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Juventus. However, as the transfer window closes, there are reports that he might move to Arsenal. Journalist Ben Jacobs indicates that Arsenal is making progress on a loan deal for Sterling, who is eager for the transfer. Fabrizio Romano adds that while Sterling and Arsenal have reached an agreement, Chelsea’s approval is still required. If the move goes through, Sterling will become Arsenal’s third significant signing of the summer, joining Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino. Sterling previously worked with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta when Arteta was an assistant at Manchester City.

Sterling would remain in London and join one of the top teams in the league. However, Manchester United icon Gary Neville believes Sterling might struggle for playing time at Arsenal due to their depth on the wings. Neville pointed out that Arsenal already has Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard for the left side, and Bukayo Saka on the right, who is a consistent performer. Sterling, who moved to Chelsea in 2022 from Manchester City for £47.5 million, has scored 19 goals in 81 appearances and still has three years left on his contract, earning about £300,000 per week.
