Raheem Sterling rejected one of the biggest contracts in the world to complete Arsenal transfer as stunning offer revealed

Raheem Sterling is said to have turned down one of the most lucrative footballing contracts ever seen.

Sterling completed a deadline-day loan transfer from Chelsea to Arsenal after being sidelined by new manager Enzo Maresca. The 29-year-old, who has won four Premier League titles, opted to decline offers that would have made him one of the highest-paid footballers globally.

According to Mirror Sport, the England international was offered a £650,000-per-week contract from an undisclosed club in Saudi Arabia.

“It’s an incredible feeling,” he shared with Arsenal’s media team. “I’m really excited and buzzing. Although it came down to the wire, it’s something I had hoped for. Everything about it feels like a perfect match for me, and I’m thrilled that we got it done.”

Even though he wasn’t registered in time to play against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, the former Liverpool player revealed that discussions with Edu Gaspar, the club’s sporting director, were pivotal in his decision.

“I talked with Edu and saw from the outside the genuine unity that Mikel has fostered, and the journey the team is on. The hunger and togetherness are evident, and it’s something I’m eager to be part of.”
