Liverpool fans are loving Virgil van Dijk’s furious five-word message to Lisandro Martinez during Man Utd clash

Liverpool fans are loving Virgil van Dijk’s furious message to Lisandro Martinez during their Premier League clash against Manchester United.

Shortly after Luis Diaz scored to put Liverpool ahead, Lisandro Martinez fouled Dominik Szoboszlai with a heavy challenge at the halfway line. Anthony Taylor quickly blew the whistle and issued a yellow card to the Manchester United defender.

As Martinez returned to position, Virgil van Dijk approached and, while being restrained by the referee, seemed to direct a five-word message at Martinez, saying, “Come try that with me.”

Liverpool fans online were thrilled with Van Dijk’s message on the field. One user on X wrote: “F**king love our Virg. He thrives on the responsibility of his size.” Another commented: “My f**king captain.” A third added: “That’s our captain!!! Liverpool legend.” Someone else said: “Oh, I love @VirgilvDijk taking absolutely no prisoners today. What a leader.” Another fan posted: “Love this from Virg. All as one.”

Following the exchange between Van Dijk and Martinez, Liverpool secured a dominant 3-0 victory at Old Trafford. Luis Diaz scored just before halftime, and Mohamed Salah added a brilliant finish in the second half.

Arne Slot’s team has now won their first three league games of the season, scoring seven goals and keeping a clean sheet. Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag’s side has suffered back-to-back league defeats, including a 2-1 loss at Brighton last weekend.
