Jadon Sancho was quick to do one thing after transferring to new club Chelsea this summer, and Manchester United fans are not happy.
Sancho made a deadline-day switch from United to Chelsea, joining on loan for the rest of the season, with Chelsea having the option to buy him for between £20-25 million next summer.
Sancho had joined United from Borussia Dortmund in July 2021 for £71 million but struggled for consistent game time and reportedly clashed with manager Erik ten Hag.
His latest actions after leaving United have sparked anger among Manchester United fans on social media. In January, Sancho returned to Dortmund on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 season and immediately updated his social media profiles to reflect his time at the German club. When he returned to United this summer, he didn’t update his profiles but swiftly changed them to feature Chelsea once his move was announced, causing frustration among United fans.
One fan on X expressed, “He’s clearly intentional with this, and it’s frustrating that those who supported him at the expense of the coach and club can now see how misguided they were.”
Another remarked, “He couldn’t update his profile picture fast enough; it’s clear he never wanted to return.”
A third fan admitted, “I supported him, but it seems like he genuinely disliked the club, as shown by this recent move. It’s really disappointing.”
In his first interview as a Chelsea player, Sancho explained what motivated his move to the club.
He said, “I’m thrilled to be here. I grew up in London, so it’s great to be back.
“The manager shared his vision for the team, and as a young player, it’s very exciting. I hope to contribute with goals and assists at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea is a legendary club. Growing up, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard were my idols, and now I have the chance to play for Chelsea just like they did. It’s an incredible feeling.”
