Chelsea star speaks out on ‘difficult’ crowded dressing room and admits he’s more comfortable with national side

A Chelsea star has spoken out about the club’s crowded dressing room and said that he’s more comfortable with his national side.

Chelsea made several signings during the summer transfer window, including Jadon Sancho from Manchester United on deadline day. They also added Pedro Neto, Joao Felix, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tosin Adarabioyo, and Filip Jorgensen, among others.

Conversely, a number of players left the club, with Raheem Sterling moving to Arsenal just before the window closed.

According to Marc Cucurella, this high turnover of players is creating challenges within the squad. Cucurella noted that it is ‘difficult’ to foster a positive team atmosphere under these circumstances.

He remarked, “It’s true that it’s hard here, while in Spain, it’s much easier to create a good environment. At Chelsea, I try my best, but this period of frequent arrivals and departures makes it tough. One of the reasons for our success in the Euro was the strong group dynamic. During such tournaments, we spend all day together and must get along well; otherwise, it would be challenging. I strive to contribute to a good atmosphere, as it’s something that comes naturally to me.”

Enzo Maresca has been given the responsibility of fostering harmony in the dressing room following his appointment this summer.

Marc Cucurella, who played a key role in Spain’s Euro 2024 victory, expressed his satisfaction with the Italian coach, stating, “I’m happy; I believe the coach we have, Enzo Maresca, is excellent and has very clear ideas.”

“We’ve experienced years of frequent coaching changes, so let’s see if we can achieve stability without many more adjustments and allow the coach to implement his ideas.

We need consistency. We have top-level players, and I hope we can be patient and maintain calm so that things go well.

We possess the quality; what we need now is stability and the opportunity for coaches and players to work together to accomplish something significant.”
