Sadio Mane a major reason behind Mo Salah’s reluctance to join Saudi Pro League

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been a major target for the Saudi Pro League, which made a substantial £150 million bid for him last summer. Although Liverpool turned down the offer, it’s expected that Saudi clubs will make another attempt to sign him at the end of the season, possibly aiming for a free transfer. However, reports suggest that Salah himself is not enthusiastic about moving to Saudi Arabia.

Liverpool Echo correspondent Paul Gorst points out several reasons for Salah’s reluctance to leave Anfield. One key factor is the diminished reputation of his former Liverpool teammate, Sadio Mane, who transferred to Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. Mane’s drop in prominence has made Salah wary of a similar move.

Additionally, Salah’s strong family ties to Liverpool play a significant role in his decision. His daughter, Makka, is reportedly well-adjusted in Liverpool, making it challenging for Salah to consider relocating to Saudi Arabia.

Liverpool needs to address Mohamed Salah’s contract situation. With Salah reportedly keen to stay at the club, it is now crucial for Liverpool to offer him a contract extension that secures his commitment.

Although Salah is 32 years old, he continues to perform at an elite level and shows no signs of decline. His fitness and consistency make him a key asset for Liverpool, and he has the potential to maintain his top-level performance for several more years.
