However, former Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is now also absent from his new team, Como, as he was left out of their 25-player squad for the 2024/2025 Italian League season. Varane, who was injured on August 11 during an Italian Cup match against Sampdoria, has missed the first two league games against Juventus and Cagliari due to a knee injury. It appears he will continue to miss future matches as Como has struggled, earning only one point so far.
The newspaper reported that Raphael Varane proposed a return to Real Madrid before signing with the Italian team, but Perez firmly rejected the idea. If Varane terminates his contract with the Italian club, it could signal his official retirement. After concluding his time with Manchester United at age 31, and having spent a decade leading Real Madrid’s defense, this could mark the end of his professional career.
