Man City ‘to hand Pep Guardiola HUGE transfer war chest’ in January with two massive signings targeted

Manchester City are set to hand Pep Guardiola a huge transfer warchest in January should he want to strengthen his squad.

After securing an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title last season, City invested only £21 million in the summer transfer window. They acquired winger Savinho from sister club Troyes, following a notable loan period with Girona. Additionally, they re-signed former captain Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer after his year at Barcelona, which has been praised as a smart move.

Academy players Rico Lewis and James McAtee are anticipated to have more significant roles, although Oscar Bobb was set to feature prominently before a broken leg sidelined him for about four months.

City also generated approximately £160 million from player sales, with the bulk of this coming from Julian Alvarez’s £81.5 million transfer to Atletico Madrid.

The club considered bringing in a forward to back up Erling Haaland but decided to stick with their current squad instead.

However, The Sun reports that City will have funds available for January if Guardiola desires new signings. £100 million will be set aside for the transfer budget, although their top two targets are unlikely to be available.

City has been strongly linked with German players Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, believing they could provide a new dimension to an already outstanding team.

Wirtz was named Bundesliga Player of the Season last year after contributing to Bayer Leverkusen’s unbeaten domestic double under Xabi Alonso.

Musiala, who initially played for England at youth levels before switching to Germany, has established himself as one of the top attacking midfielders globally at just 21, thanks to his impressive performances with Bayern Munich.

His contract runs until 2026, and many top clubs are expected to keep a close eye on his situation.

Former teammate Joshua Zirkzee has been attempting to persuade Musiala to join him at Manchester United, but his efforts have not yet been successful.
