Mundo Deportivo reports that Hansi Flick is planning to maximize Gavi’s potential at Barcelona starting next season. The German coach envisions Gavi as a central figure in his system, specifically in a double pivot role in midfield, rather than on the wings.
Gavi himself prefers playing centrally and believes he can thrive as one of the two pivots, helping Barcelona maintain possession and generate opportunities. If Gavi assumes this role, he will likely be paired with either Frenkie de Jong or a new midfield recruit, which might push Pedri further forward in Flick’s 4-2-3-1 formation. Gavi had a challenging 2023/24 season, making only 15 appearances before a severe injury cut his season short.
