Liverpool have been linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe in recent years.
According to a report from L’Equipe, the 25-year-old French international had reached a verbal agreement to join Liverpool in 2022. Liverpool had made a €200 million offer to Paris Saint-Germain after finalizing personal terms with the player. However, Antero Henrique, PSG’s sporting director at the time, demanded double the amount to finalize the deal.
Despite agreeing to personal terms with Liverpool, Mbappe persuaded them to allow him to join Real Madrid in the future. Ultimately, the French international signed a long-term contract with Real Madrid after his PSG contract expired.
Mbappe would have significantly transformed Liverpool. As one of the best players in the world, his addition would have been exceptional for the Reds. His dynamic play and versatility across the front three would have brought both goals and creativity to the team. Moreover, as a proven match-winner, he could have made a substantial impact in crucial games.
Liverpool, having already won the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League under Jurgen Klopp, could have further improved with Mbappe’s presence. It’s intriguing to consider how many more major trophies the Reds might have won with him.
Now, the 25-year-old will aim to make his mark in Spanish football with Real Madrid. It remains to be seen whether he can help them secure multiple league titles and Champions League trophies during his time there.
