Laporta and Nike team up to sign elite player to lead Barcelona: The player will be the most prominent after Messi’s departure

Nike insists that Barcelona must act swiftly to secure a major global star in the upcoming summer transfer window. To facilitate this, Barcelona first needs to sell some players to generate the necessary funds, focusing on potential departures of key players such as Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong.

So far this summer, Barcelona has finalized only two transfers: Pau Victor and Dani Olmo. Nico Williams chose to remain at Athletic Bilbao, and the club hopes its financial situation will improve by 2025 to enable more acquisitions.

El Nacional reports that despite efforts by Joan Laporta and Deco to revisit signing the Spanish international, this pursuit is no longer a top priority. Doubts are growing at Camp Nou about the feasibility of completing such a deal.

On the other hand, Nike is pushing for a player with significant global appeal and is particularly interested in Erling Haaland. With Pep Guardiola’s contract ending on June 30, Haaland might be inclined to leave Manchester City for a new challenge. Haaland has expressed interest in moving to La Liga but prefers not to join Real Madrid due to competition with Kylian Mbappe or Vinicius Junior, which could impact his individual prominence.

In Barcelona, Erling Haaland could be the ideal “number 9” the team needs, especially considering the current situation with 36-year-old Robert Lewandowski, who commands a high salary. Despite Lewandowski’s impressive performance and Hans Flick’s confidence in him, Barcelona might opt not to renew his contract, thereby creating space in the attack for Haaland. Joan Laporta views Haaland as a key player who could lead the team to success similar to what was achieved with Leo Messi.

Although attracting Haaland from Manchester City presents significant challenges, Nike has pledged to support Laporta as much as possible to secure this ambitious transfer.
