France midfielder Adrien Rabiot has reportedly decided on his new club amid interest from Manchester United.
Adrien Rabiot has been a free agent since his contract with Juventus ended on June 30. Throughout the summer, he was frequently linked with Manchester United as manager Erik ten Hag sought a new midfielder.
Even after United signed PSG’s Manuel Ugarte on deadline day, they still had the opportunity to sign Rabiot, provided the deal was completed by September 14—the deadline for Premier League squad registrations. However, that deadline has now passed, and the chance to finalize Rabiot’s move is no longer available.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Adrien Rabiot has chosen his next club and is in advanced talks to join Ligue 1 side Marseille. Managed by former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, Marseille hopes to finalize the 29-year-old’s transfer within the next 48 hours.
Marseille has had a strong start to the Ligue 1 season, winning three of their first four matches, with their only drop in points coming from a 2-2 draw against Reims. The club had a busy summer, adding Mason Greenwood from Manchester United, Elye Wahi from Lens, and Norwich’s Jonathan Rowe on loan. Rabiot is expected to be their latest signing.
The 29-year-old Adrien Rabiot was a key player for France at Euro 2024 but spent the summer evaluating his options following his departure from Juventus. He reportedly declined offers from clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia while seeking the ideal next step in his career.
Rabiot has yet to play a professional match in English football, a fact that will remain unchanged after Manchester United’s failure to sign him. However, he did have a brief stint with Manchester City as a 13-year-old in 2008.
