Another goal scored by Luiz Diaz was totally ignored 43 minutes after Mohamed Salah’s goal was disallowed in broad daylight during the 37 minutes of the match between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, which concluded with Nottingham Forest winning by a score of 1-0. Once more, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) has succeeded in stealing from Liverpool.

Liverpool once again found themselves at the center of a VAR controversy in their match against Nottingham Forest, which ended in a 1-0 defeat.

After Mohamed Salah’s goal was disallowed in the 37th minute, there was further controversy just six minutes later when Luis Diaz’s goal was also ruled out in the 43rd minute.

Despite Liverpool’s protests and growing frustration, Nottingham Forest managed to maintain their slim lead and secured a vital win at the City Ground.

Salah’s disallowed goal came from a well-timed through-ball, with the Egyptian striker finishing neatly past the Forest goalkeeper. However, after a prolonged VAR review, he was deemed offside, a call that replays showed was exceedingly close. This decision disrupted Liverpool’s momentum, but their VAR issues were not over.

Six minutes later, Luis Diaz thought he had scored the equalizer, but this goal was ignored without any VAR review or intervention.

Liverpool’s bench was visibly frustrated, feeling they had been unfairly treated by the referees for the second time in the match.

Liverpool was left to lament missed chances and contentious decisions that went against them. Nottingham Forest took advantage of these opportunities, with Taiwo Awoniyi scoring the game’s only goal shortly after halftime. Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, Liverpool could not break through the Forest defense.

The result leaves Liverpool with more questions than answers, especially concerning the role of VAR in their recent games.

Fans and pundits are demanding greater consistency in the use of the technology, as Liverpool’s quest for a top-four finish faces another setback.
