BREAKING NEWS: Coming live from Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are preparing a stunning move to sign former Man United superstar.

Manchester United’s new co-owners are concentrating on acquiring young, promising talent rather than investing heavily in experienced veterans nearing the end of their careers. Sir Jim Ratcliffe aims to focus on British players with Premier League experience, aligning with sporting director Dan Ashworth’s strategy to prioritize homegrown talent under the current regulations for financial prudence.

One potential target fitting this strategy is Angel Gomes, a former Manchester United academy player now with Lille in France. Gomes, who became United’s youngest Premier League player in 2017, was released by the club under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but has since thrived, earning his senior debut for England. With his Lille contract expiring next year, there is growing speculation about a possible return to England.

Newcastle United is reportedly interested in Gomes, but surprising reports suggest Liverpool, United’s rivals, are also keen on him. Additionally, Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund have shown interest, with Dortmund’s reputation for developing young talent adding to the intrigue.

Gomes’ performances in Ligue 1 and for England have attracted significant attention. According to Football Insider, scouts from Liverpool, Newcastle, and Tottenham observed Gomes during his debut start for England against Finland in early September. Dortmund, known for developing talents like Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham, is also reportedly interested in him.

With Gomes’ contract set to expire next year, he can negotiate with any club from January. As interest intensifies, United may consider re-signing him, especially if they face potential departures of key midfielders like Casemiro and Christian Eriksen at the season’s end. United’s new ownership, keen on retaining academy talent, might explore bringing Gomes back to Old Trafford rather than letting him join a rival like Liverpool. Re-signing Gomes could be a strategic move, providing a young, talented, and homegrown player familiar with the club’s culture while adhering to their financial strategy.
