Liverpool ‘enter race for £110m superstar’ who could make Arne Slot’s side genuine title challengers

Liverpool are reportedly considering a bid for one of the biggest stars of Euro 2024 but face competition from several rival Premier League clubs.

Liverpool is enjoying a strong start to the new season, with manager Arne Slot leading the team to a 3-1 victory over AC Milan in the Champions League. He has achieved four wins in his first five competitive matches, the only setback being a surprising 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Currently, Liverpool sits fourth in the league, three points behind unbeaten leaders Manchester City, who have won all their games so far. Despite a talented squad at Anfield, Slot may require additional players to compete effectively against Manchester City and Arsenal for the title.

This summer, Liverpool made only one major signing, bringing in Federico Chiesa from Juventus for £10 million. However, reports indicate that the club is planning to pursue more additions in both the January transfer window and next summer.

A recent report suggests Liverpool is eyeing a high-profile bid for Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala. The 21-year-old has less than two years left on his contract, and Bayern may consider selling him next summer if he doesn’t agree to a long-term extension this season.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool is contemplating a formal offer for Musiala, who is valued at around £110 million by Transfermarkt. Other clubs, including Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Spanish giants Real Madrid, are also interested.

Musiala, regarded as one of Europe’s brightest young talents, has scored 45 goals in 168 appearances for Bayern. He shone at Euro 2024, finishing as a joint-top scorer with three goals, despite Germany’s early exit in the quarter-finals.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl recently acknowledged that contract negotiations with Jamal Musiala have been “difficult.” However, in an interview with the German publication Sport1, Eberl expressed optimism that Musiala would ultimately commit to a long-term deal with the club.

“It’s challenging, but not impossible—Jamal understands what he has at Bayern Munich,” Eberl stated. “He developed here and has reached this level. Discussions are becoming more intense. We are highly ambitious, and he knows that he wants to win titles.”
