Trent Alexander-Arnold ‘submits bid’ to buy football club from one of Europe’s top five leagues in crazy development

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly submitted a bid to acquire a football club in a shock development.

The right-back’s contract situation at Anfield remains unclear as speculation about his future increases.

However, there’s news regarding the England international’s business ambitions, with L’Equipe reporting that he wants to acquire Ligue One club Nantes.

Alexander-Arnold is already a minority shareholder in the Formula One team Alpine, part of a high-profile group that includes Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney, Anthony Joshua, and Rory McIlroy.

Now, he’s interested in entering the French football market with Nantes, who currently sit fifth in Ligue One.

According to Get French Football News, Waldemar Kita has owned the club since 2007 but is frustrated with the ongoing issues and financial difficulties they face.

The report indicates that the 25-year-old’s father, Michael Arnold, manages his business interests through a London investment firm. The initial contact between the Arnolds and Waldemar Kita occurred via video call last summer.

Since then, they have met in person in both Geneva and London, discussing a potential takeover valued at €100 million.

The proposed deal would involve an upfront payment of €80 million, along with a seller credit of €20 million.

The fee would need to allow Kita to recover most of his investment in the club, which may be challenging.

Nantes has denied that any discussions with Alexander-Arnold and his family have occurred.

If a takeover were to go through, Alexander-Arnold would become one of the youngest owners in world football, following in the footsteps of Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé.

Earlier this summer, the former Paris Saint-Germain forward, also 25, became the majority owner of Ligue Two club Caen.
