Man Utd’s Stance on Re-Signing Mason Greenwood Revealed as European Giants Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester city Show Interest

Mason Greenwood is drawing interest from four top European clubs following his impressive performances at Marseille. The 22-year-old, who left Manchester United after a productive loan at Getafe last season, has quickly made an impact at Marseille, netting five goals in his first four league games.

Greenwood’s exit from Manchester United in 2022 was marred by allegations of attempted rape, assault, and coercive behavior, though the charges were later dropped. The controversy from his departure still casts a shadow.

Currently, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich are reportedly keeping a close eye on him, as noted by journalist Graeme Bailey. Both Spanish clubs considered signing him this summer but chose to pursue other options.

Though Manchester United allowed Greenwood to leave, they included a substantial sell-on clause in his Marseille contract, ranging from 40 to 50 percent, which would allow them to benefit financially from any future high-profile transfer. However, they have no intention of activating the buyback clause included in his deal.

Roberto De Zerbi, who played a significant role in Greenwood’s move to Marseille, has commended his strong form and work ethic, highlighting his potential for further growth.

Additionally, there are rumors that Greenwood might return to international football, this time representing Jamaica instead of England, following an opportunity reportedly extended by Steve McClaren.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is looking elsewhere, with reports indicating interest in re-signing former player Angel Gomes from Lille and targeting Norwegian talent Sverre Nypan for a potential January acquisition.
