Liverpool fans are all fearing the same thing after Rodri suffers injury blow during Man City vs Arsenal

Liverpool fans are all worried about one specific thing after it was confirmed that rival Manchester City’s midfield star Rodri would likely miss the rest of the season.

During his first match of the 2024/25 season, Rodri suffered a serious knee injury just 21 minutes in, confirmed by David Ornstein of The Athletic. With Kevin de Bruyne also sidelined, Manchester City is now short on midfield options, raising concerns among Liverpool fans.

Some fans speculate that City might seek to sign Martín Zubimendi, the Real Sociedad midfielder who was linked to Liverpool over the summer. Comments on social media reflected this worry, with one fan expressing dread at the thought of City acquiring Zubimendi if Rodri’s injury is severe.

Another fan echoed this sentiment, suggesting City might indeed pursue Zubimendi. Jokes also circulated about City’s potential financial power in the transfer market. Meanwhile, a City supporter expressed enthusiasm for the idea, seeing Zubimendi as an ideal fit for the team in light of Rodri’s absence.

Zubimendi seemed poised to join Liverpool during the summer transfer window, but ultimately chose to remain with his boyhood club, Real Sociedad. If he were to sign with Manchester City less than six months later, it would certainly frustrate Liverpool fans.

Additionally, recent rumors indicate that Zubimendi might still consider a move to Liverpool when the transfer window reopens, which could complicate Arne Slot’s plans for January.
