New reports have revealed that Barcelona have made a shock approach for a retired player to try and bring them to the club to replace Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Now, it’s been revealed that Barcelona is attempting to lure a top goalkeeper out of retirement to fill the gap left by the injured German keeper. Polish journalist Tomasz Wlodarczyk has confirmed that the club has reached out to Wojciech Szczesny, noting, “According to our information, Barcelona has indeed made contact with the Pole. However, it’s too early to determine the outcome of these discussions. The case is open; Szczesny is at least considering a return to the game.”
With the summer transfer window closed and the next not reopening until January 1, Barcelona must explore free agents for an immediate replacement. Szczesny reportedly stands out as their preferred option among available players. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano later confirmed this, stating on X that Szczesnyâs agents have been approached by Barcelona to discuss possible terms. Although Szczesny announced his retirement this summer, Barcelona is eager to understand his current situation.
