Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, has reached an agreement with a new technical director to take over from Carlo Ancelotti as head coach for the 2025-2026 season.
Despite Ancelottiâs notable successes with the team, many within the club feel that this new generation of players requires a coach who can better harness their talents. According to the Spanish newspaper âAS,â the club has decided to hire young Spanish coach Xabi Alonso, currently leading Bayer Leverkusen, to succeed Ancelotti.
The newspaper reported that Bayern Munich and Liverpool are vying for Xabi Alonsoâs services, as he previously played for Liverpool. However, Alonso has turned down their offers, choosing instead to stay with Bayer Leverkusen while awaiting an opportunity at Real Madrid.
Real Madridâs management has welcomed Alonsoâs decision with enthusiasm, particularly because he has a close relationship with Florentino Perez. If Alonso were approached to coach Real Madrid, he would likely accept without hesitation.
