BREAKING NEWS: Liverpool star is set to be sold in January transfer window.

Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool may consider selling Wataru Endo in the January transfer window due to his diminished role within the squad. Endo, who joined from Stuttgart last year, has had his future at Anfield questioned, particularly after Liverpool rejected a summer bid from Marseille.

Once a key player under Jurgen Klopp, Endo has struggled for playing time this season, leading to speculation about his long-term prospects with the club. Liverpool’s interest in Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi during the summer indicates that new manager Arne Slot prefers a different type of central midfielder. Although Zubimendi turned down a transfer, it suggested Slot’s desire for a change in midfield style.

Carragher remarked that Endo may not align with Slot’s vision for the team. On Sky Sports, he stated, “I’m not sure he’s the type of player that Arne Slot looks for. Zubimendi, who was pursued, is completely different from Endo.”

While Carragher acknowledged Endo’s contributions to the team, he suggested that had Zubimendi joined, Endo might have been sold during the summer transfer window. “He’s done well for Liverpool, but if they had signed Zubimendi, it’s likely Endo would have moved on then. That could still happen in January.”

Slot’s lack of confidence in Endo is evident, as the Japanese midfielder has started only once this season, in a Carabao Cup match against West Ham. In contrast, Slot has favored Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, who has become a standout player for Liverpool this season after struggling previously.

Endo’s fit within Slot’s plans appears tenuous, suggesting he might seek first-team opportunities elsewhere. This situation illustrates how quickly a player’s role can change with a new manager and tactical shift; Gravenberch has become essential while Endo’s status has diminished.

With Slot reshaping Liverpool’s midfield, Endo’s future remains uncertain. January could present a pivotal moment for both the player and the club, particularly if Liverpool continues to seek midfield reinforcements.
