Barça experienced their first defeat of the Spanish League season, losing 4-2 to Osasuna. The home team took an early lead in the 18th minute and scored a second goal in the 28th minute. Despite the loss, Barça remains at the top of the La Liga standings with 21 points, while Osasuna climbed to sixth with 14 points.
The match began with Barça aiming to set a historic record under new coach Hansi Flick, who opted to make significant changes to the lineup and rest several key players, including Lamine Yamal and Rafinha.
After the game, club president Laporta reportedly entered the locker room angrily, criticizing the team’s performance, particularly targeting Ferran Torres, defender Sergi Dominguez, and goalkeeper Iñaki Pena for conceding four goals without any response. He expressed frustration with Dominguez, suggesting he should seek a new club in January to gain more experience, and lamented Torres’ lack of progress, stating that “playing with 10 players is better than having Ferran Torres on the field.”
The newspaper reported that Laporta confronted Hansi Flick angrily, holding him entirely accountable for the heavy defeat against Osasuna. He warned Flick against being reckless with player rotations, which cost the team three crucial points in the La Liga title race.
Laporta expressed concern that the team’s current situation resembled the struggles of Xavi’s Barcelona, something he wants to avoid, warning of dire consequences if it continues. He further urged Flick to exclude four players from the squad for the remainder of the season, including Ferran Torres, whom Laporta is actively looking to sell, as well as young defender Dominguez, Gerard Martin, and midfielder Eric Garcia.
