Talks underway: Liverpool make talent with 83 assists a priority ahead of 2025 transfer windows

Liverpool is prioritizing a new contract for Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of the 2025 transfer windows, with negotiations reportedly already underway. The 25-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of the season, and interest from Real Madrid has the club concerned about his future.

Alexander-Arnold isn’t the only key player with a contract expiring in 2025; captain Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are also awaiting new terms. However, Liverpool is focusing on the right-back and needs to clarify his future intentions before finalizing any deal, according to Football Insider.

While discussions for an extension have taken place, there has been no significant progress yet. If Alexander-Arnold chooses to leave, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong could be a potential replacement, along with Juanlu Sánchez from Sevilla. However, these alternatives will only be considered if the full-back departs Anfield.

Liverpool cannot afford to let Trent Alexander-Arnold leave in 2025. If he departs at the end of the season, replacing the 25-year-old’s exceptional talent will be nearly impossible.

As a generational full-back, Alexander-Arnold has had a significant impact since his first-team debut in 2016, playing 317 matches and contributing 19 goals and 83 assists. His skill set is so rare that it’s no surprise a prestigious club like Real Madrid is interested in him. Players of his caliber are hard to come by.
