Ancelotti and Davide admit mistake against Atletico Madrid: We shouldn’t have substituted him

The Madrid derby concluded in a 1-1 draw between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, with the latter performing well, much to the disappointment of Real’s fans. Carlo Ancelotti openly criticized himself after the match, expressing dissatisfaction with certain decisions during a private interview, as well as in the post-match press conference.

At the Civitas Metropolitano stadium, Real Madrid had chances to secure a win, leaving both the coach and players frustrated. Reports from Defensa Central indicate that Ancelotti and his son Davide acknowledged they should not have substituted Vinicius Junior, who was excelling before being replaced by Endrick. Ancelotti admitted that Vinicius’s departure diminished Real Madrid’s attacking threat, allowing Atletico to come back in the match, as the Brazilian had been a constant danger to their defense.

Real Madrid’s coaches acknowledged after the match, “We should not have replaced him.” These comments indicate their belief that the substitution impacted the game’s outcome, further fueling the frustration among the club’s fans.
